“The drought also makes it hard to buy food, causing malnutrition in my children as we rely solely on milk and meat from our livestock.”

I am Mary, 25 years old, from Loita Ward, Ndasegera.

Drought forces us to move our cattle in search of pasture and water. Moving from this location means I cannot assess the health facilities because they are too far.

I was using the three-month injection. But it was too difficult for me to come back for injections, so I could not continue using family planning. And that is how the pregnancy happened.

When I was pregnant I missed going to the antenatal clinic because of the distance. Luckily it did not affect the baby, but imagine if there was something wrong during the pregnancy…that is how things could have gone bad.

The drought also makes it hard to buy food, causing malnutrition in my children as we rely solely on milk and meat from our livestock.
